A 72-year-old man has been arrested after he was accused of shooting his 28-year-old wife in the face because she allegedly told him he didn’t satisfy her sexually or financially.
The man identified as Clarence White was arrested on Thursday after allegedly shooting his younger spouse Dominique at their New York home in the Bronx.
The shooting took place at about 8.40am after the couple got into an argument, New York Daily News reports..
According to Police, the woman, who was shot in the right cheek, was rushed to hospital where she is in critical, but stable condition..
A neighbour, who said he heard them yelling at the time, told PIX11 News:
“They were arguing (outside) but then he went inside and she followed him.”
When police arrived they found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound and recovered a 22-caliber handgun at the scene.
White faces charges of attempted murder, assault and criminal use of a firearm.
White told police money was tight after he lost his job and during the argument, his wife ordered him to move out.
At some point during the fight, she told him that he no longer satisfies her “financially or sexually”.
White, who claimed he didn’t mean to shoot his wife – and only wanted to scare her, is being held on $300,000 (£228,000) bond.
The couple, who have been married for three yours, have a young daughter together.
Police had previously responded to a domestic dispute at their apartment on May 24.
