Arewa Youths Protest & Threaten To Shut Down Nigeria If Nnamdi Kanu Is Not Arrested

On Wednesday, a handful youths from Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA) staged a protest in Abuja while threatening to paralyze governments’ activities, especially in 19 Northern states, if the Federal Government failed to arrest the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.According to the Nigerian Tribune, the assembly who staged the peaceful protest further threatened that if the Federal Government failed to get Kanu apprehended it would mobilize over one thousand youths to stop governments’ activities in Northern states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.This was in stark contrast to the police assault on protesters calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to resume or resign on Tuesday. The placard-carrying group of northern youths marched from the Unity Fountain, Maitama through the Federal Secretariat Complex to the entrance of the three Arms Zone saying the unity of Nigeria was non-negotiable and criticised Kanu for allegedly undermining the sovereignty of the nation.
