Ibrahim Idris, who is the Inspector-General of Police, has set up an Investigation Panel to go through complaints and petitions of alleged bribery by police officers for special promotion. Chairman, Senate Committee on Navy, Isah Misau, in an interview with reporters on August 10, had allegedly stated that police officers pay bribe for special promotions.
In a statement by the Force Spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood, to reporters he said that Mr. Misau had been invited by the panel to get more details to assist in the conduct of a discreet investigation into the matter. He had further stated that the panel among other responsibilities, is expected to investigate the allegations. Others are to determine the substance of the complaints, petitions and grievances from aggrieved police officers and members of the public on allegations of giving money for special promotion. The panel was ordered to submit reports to the Inspector-General of Police within two weeks.
