SZA Reveals That Solange Knowles Directed The Music Video For ‘The Weekend’

The standout track “The Weekend” on SZA’s debut album Ctrl is finally getting visuals, directed by Solange. The singer unveiled the news in an interview but kept all other details under wraps. She revealed though that the video includes 10 different locations and looks.
The song is about sharing a partner with someone else (and splitting time up between them — hence the name). It’s currently sitting at #75 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track quickly became one of the most popular tracks from her album, and has even been covered by various other celebs, including Miguel.
SZA also took the time out to share the love that she has for Solange. “I love her,” SZA says. “I think the universe is just bringing us closer to each other. That’s my homegirl.”
