    United Nations Frown At Boko Haram Attack In Borno State

    The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has given the military troops a 40 day ultimatum to capture Shekau, leader of Boko Haram after the UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned Boko Haram terrorists’ attacks in Borno state, Nigeria. It was a painful occurrence as many people were killed and others lost their loved ones.The suicide bomb attack occurred in Mandarari town of Konduga Local Government Area, about 37 kilometres from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. It was reported that the attack occurred at 5:50 pm on Tuesday. In a statement by the Secretary-General, Guterres called for the prosecution of those responsible for the senseless attacks. The UN chief extended his deep condolences to the government and people of Nigeria for the loss of life and wished a speedy recovery to those who sustained injuries from the attack. He also called for those responsible for these repeated heinous acts in Nigeria to be swiftly brought to justice.Although details on the attack wasn’t clear, a member of the Civilian JTF said a motor park was hit. According to security official, the attack was carried out by three suicide bombers two females and a male who took turns to detonate the Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) strapped to their bodies. It was gathered that no fewer than 27 people were killed while 83 others were wounded in the multiple attacks in Maiduguri. A female bomber carried out her attack at a market in Konduga, while the other two suicide bombers did theirs at the gates of an internally displaced person (IDP) camp. However, there was no life lost at the IDP camp gate attack, but many were injured.
