Liverpool had already had two offers for the Guinea international rejected this summer – the second understood to be about £70m – but now a compromise deal has been reached where Leipzig keep their prize asset this season and Liverpool gets the player next summer.
Keita’s contract reportedly had an exit clause of £48m that can be activated on July 1, 2018, and Leipzig have sanctioned the move to Liverpool. The Reds had agreed to pay a premium above the clause to secure the deal early.
