Three Things We Learned From Mayweather And McGregor Last Night

The long awaited Mayweather and McGregor  fight which took place last night is no more a new news but DBBW is here to give you a breakdown on three things learnt in the said fight
Everyone waited 102 days, 14 weeks, four days, 2448 hours, 146,880 minutes and 8,812,800 seconds for the greatest fight in combat sports history. And it lasted longer than anyone expected — 10 rounds, one minute and five seconds to be exact.

Yet the result was predictable, a Floyd Mayweather victory against Conor McGregor. And with that, the sport of boxing was saved. Here’s three things we learned from the fight.
    1. Both Men Made Significant Gains From The Fight.
For Mayweather, he got to finish a high-profile opponent and convince a lot of casual sporting fans that he can finish fights. For McGregor, he did a lot better than many people expected and while he lost, he did not disgrace himself. He can now return to the UFC as the biggest star in combat sport, maybe one of the biggest stars in any sport. And of course, they both made a lot of money.

    2. Nobody Wants A Rematch
The fight was more entertaining than many of Mayweather’s bouts and the general consensus seems to be that it exceeded expectations as a contest but there is no need for a rematch. Mayweather has his 50-0 record, McGregor has the biggest payday of his life and a massive boost in his public profile – they both got what they wanted from this fight.

    3. Records Were Broken
The incredible public interest in this fight will conclude with stupidly large paydays for everyone involved. The event, which was delayed due to technical issues, transcended not only the confines of fight fans but of sporting fans in general. It may be some time before we ever see a fight of this magnitude in terms of revenue or public interest. For better or for worse, this is as big as boxing or MMA will be until the next time McGregor fights.
