Florida has been hit by the ‘most catastrophic storm’ it has ever seen, with Hurricane Irma bringing tornadoes, a 15ft sea surge, flooding and 130mph winds.
Four people have died and more than a million people are without power. A man was killed after the high winds caused him to lose control of his vehicle in Monroe County, Key West.
Two others died in a car accident in Hardee County, Florida. An elderly man also reportedly died of natural causes while sheltering in a school in the city of Marathon on the Keys. Those deaths come after Irma claimed at least 25 lives in the Caribbean as it swept over several countries, destroying entire islands.
