
It was announced this Thursday that Katy Perry will host the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards. The pop star, who has five nominations this year, will emcee and perform at the annual awards ceremony.
Perry announced in a statement, “”I’ve been training with MTV in zero gravity, eating astronaut ice cream, and I’m on a group text with Buzz Aldrin and Neil deGrasse Tyson, Come August 27th, I’ll be ready to be your MOONWOMAN! Brace for impact, kids.”
Bruce Gilmer, who is head of music and music talent at Viacom, says they’re thrilled to have Katy as a host and performer at this year’s VMAs. He said, “She is at the forefront of music culture and the perfect person to anchor this year’s show, which promises to be one of the most diverse and music-filled in VMA history.”
Perry will play VMA host just before she goes on world tour for her latest, chart-topping album, Witness.
Katy Perry has her five nominations in the following categories: Best Pop, Best Collaboration, Best Direction, Best Art Direction and Best Visual Effects.
The 2017 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Forum in Inglewood, California on Sunday, the 27th of August at 8 p.m ET/PT. Don’t miss it guys!
